Ganjzadeh earns Iran’s 1st gold at Karate World C’ships

TEHRAN, Oct. 29 (MNA) – Iranian karate practitioner Sajjad Ganjzadeh has clinched gold at the 28th Karate World Championships underway in Austria.

Competing at +84kg weight category, Iranian male karate practitioner overcame Moroccan karateka Ashraf Ouchen to win the title at the international tournament.

Offering excellent athletic skills in the final showdown, Iran’s Ganjzadeh pulled out a sweeping victory over the Moroccan rivals. On road to the finals, he had to beat Welsh, Tunisian, Croatian, Macanese and Bosnian representatives.

So far in the sport event, Hamideh Abbasali, Zabihollah Pourshib, Aliasghar Asiabari have bagged bronze medals for the Iranian caravan.

From 25 October 2016 to 30 October 2016, the Karate World Championships, attended by 2000 athletes and coaches from 135 nations, will take place in Tips Arena of the Austrian city of Linz.
